Projects: Stale

How to Install

OmniFocus projects can get forgotten over time, especially if you don’t review them regularly. This perspective shows all of your incomplete, non-repeating projects, grouped by when they were last changed. A change includes adding or completing an action, marking the project as reviewed, editing a note, or any other edit. The projects you haven’t touched in the longest time are grouped at the bottom.

Use this perspective to help decide what to do with projects gathering virtual dust. Maybe the project is waiting on someone and needs to stay on hold for now; maybe it’s lost its relevance and can be dropped; or maybe it just needs a next action to get moving again. A stale project may have been created as a placeholder for an idea that hasn’t taken form. If the idea is still worth developing, you could create a note to clarify your thinking, remove the abandoned project from OmniFocus, and create a new project if you want to do something tangible with this idea in the future.

Repeating projects are excluded because they return on their own schedule and may have a long gap between changes. The sidebar is hidden by default as it contains tags that aren’t relevant to this perspective.
