Workshops

We take a hybrid approach to learning. Complete courses at your own pace, and then engage in live interactive workshops to apply what you’ve learned to your life and work.

OmniFocus and complementary apps are intended to help you do great things. While learning to use productivity apps proficiently is highly encouraged, this is just one piece of a larger puzzle. It’s essential to clarify where you’re going and to design your productivity system to support these pursuits. To live a fulfilling life, it’s also important to hit the pause button regularly and ensure that how you spend your time and energy aligns with your values (i.e. what’s important to you and the gifts you have to share with the world).

Join Learn OmniFocus and get full access to our extensive content library (including in-depth courses) and register in upcoming Learn OmniFocus LIVE sessions.

Learning Within a Supportive Community

While we’re fans of self-paced learning, we value interactive group sessions within a supportive community. This combination is sometimes called a hybrid approach to learning or a flipped classroom.

Select courses in our extensive course library have complementary Learn OmniFocus LIVE sessions. Once you’ve completed the course, join us for the workshop and be guided through applying the course material to your life and work. During the workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and share insights. Workshops are kept confidential and not recorded to encourage participants to share freely.

Get OmniFocus Back on Track Workshop

Complete the Getting Back on Track with OmniFocus 4 course, then join us for this interactive workshop to put what you’ve learned into practice.

Exercises include:

  • Mind Sweep – Be guided through a “mind sweep” to surface thoughts in your head and identify important tasks missing from OmniFocus.
  • OmniFocus Inbox – Process your OmniFocus inbox, identifying things that belong in OmniFocus and those that are best kept elsewhere.
  • Projects – Review your projects and determine whether your system needs minor tweaks or a major overhaul.
  • Tags Review your OmniFocus tags and streamline your system by adding, removing and organizing tags.
  • Due Dates – Review your use of due dates, identifying legitimately due tasks and those assigned arbitrarily.
  • System Maintenance – Create System Maintenance projects and actions to help you keep OmniFocus on the rails.

Registration in this session is limited to 20 participants to allow maximum interactivity. When you register, you’ll be asked to agree to participate with your video camera turned on and to keep what other participants share confidential. To help protect participants’ privacy, sessions won’t be recorded.

When you register for a session, you’ll be sent a Zoom link by email and prompted to add the session to your calendar. Please plan to arrive at least a couple of minutes before the start time to make sure that your camera and microphone are working. You’re welcome to join up to ten minutes early and stick around for ten minutes after for some social time.

Build Your Focus Muscle

The times we live in are sometimes called the “age of distraction.” A lot is competing for our attention, and engaging in deep, focused work can be challenging. Having an enhanced ability to focus is highly beneficial. Metaphorically, when you practice focus, you’re building a focus “muscle” and increasing your capacity to be productive.

Like going to the gym to tone muscles, developing your capacity for focus takes time and practice. We’re here to help.

The self-guided Practical Focus with OmniFocus 4 course guides you through the principles of focus and explores “focus” as a noun (i.e. the object of your focus) and a verb (i.e. the act of focusing). Along the way, you’ll learn how to use the focus features built into OmniFocus and how complementary apps can help.

Our Virtual Coworking sessions allow you to put what you’ve learned into practice. Registering for a Virtual Coworking session means making time for your most important tasks and inviting accountability. You’ll work in a supportive virtual group environment and be invited to share insights from your experience to help inform future focus sessions.

Share & Ask Questions in Office Hours

You’re welcome to join us for Office Hours if you have questions about anything OmniFocus-related. These sessions allow you to ask questions about any material covered in our extensive course library and get help with specific workflows. Office Hours don’t have a specific outline. Instead, what’s covered in these sessions is determined by those who attend. Office Hours sessions are kept small (maximum ten participants) to maximize interactivity. These sessions are confidential and not recorded.
