The Omni Group announced on Friday (June 15, 2018) that they plan to ship OmniFocus 3 for Mac this September.
This major new release will “bring tags, enhanced custom perspectives, interleaved Forecast, the Forecast tag, enhanced repeating tasks, and other new features already found in OmniFocus 3 for iOS.”
I’m very much looking forward to having a beta running on my Macs soon and plan to have OmniFocus 3 for Mac content ready to post here on Learn OmniFocus when this new release is officially available.
Once OmniFocus 3 is available on both Mac and iOS, I’ll be revisiting many of the topics that I’ve covered previously, including Taming Email with OmniFocus, OmniFocus and the Calendar, and Using OmniFocus in a Team Setting.
OmniFocus 3 for Mac Pricing and Availability
OmniFocus 3 for Mac will be available from both the Mac App Store and from the Omni Group directly. And you’ll be able to download a free 14-day trial to put in through its paces before purchasing.
The Standard edition will cost $39.99 (USD) and the Pro edition will be $79.99 (USD). If you purchased a previous version of OmniFocus for Mac you’ll be entitled to a 50% discount.
The Omni Group has also shared that “everyone who bought OmniFocus for Mac since our announcement last October will get a free upgrade”. So, if you don’t already have OmniFocus for Mac, you can purchase it today without any concerns about having to pay OmniFocus 3 upgrade fees.
Help Test OmniFocus 3 for Mac
If you’d like to get your hands on OmniFocus 3 for Mac before September and don’t mind dealing with some bugs, consider signing up to help test. Note that if you previously signed up to help test OmniFocus 3 for iOS you’re already on the list. No need to sign up again.
Getting Ready for OmniFocus 3 for Mac
I’m continuing to develop new content for OmniFocus 3 for iOS. Among other things, I’m excited to lead the Tapping Into the Power of OmniFocus 3 for iOS session next week (Wednesday, June 27 from 10-11am Pacific Time). As the name suggests, this session is all about making productive use of the new features that were introduced in OmniFocus 3 for iOS. I’ll be making a recording available for the benefit of Learn OmniFocus Members who aren’t available to attend the live session.
Learning how to use OmniFocus 3 for iOS, including how to make best use of tags and enhanced custom perspectives, will help prepare you to make optimal use of OmniFocus 3 for Mac.
