PopClip
App Description
PopClip displays an iOS-style pop-up any time you select text on your Mac. Default actions include standard commands such as Cut, Copy, and Paste. The PopClip Extensions Directory contains over 200 actions that extend PopClip’s capabilities. For example, some extensions transform text, sort text, perform word counts, and send the text to a text editor or productivity app.
There’s an OmniFocus Extension that opens a Quick Entry window with a new task matching the selected text. Conveniently, PopClip automatically adds information about where the text came from to the note field, along with the date and time of capture. The selected text is also added to the note field so you can rewrite the action’s title while still having a record of the text. If the selected text is on a webpage (e.g., Safari or Chrome), PopClip adds a link.
Here’s a taste of PopClip in action. This demo setup includes several extensions from the PopClip Extensions Directory, including OmniFocus.
