Mimestream

Mimestream is a meticulously designed Mac app that allows you to access Gmail’s advanced features. The founder of Mimestream, Neil Jhaveri, is no stranger to email apps. He worked as an engineering manager and software engineer at Apple and led teams working on Apple Mail and Apple Notes.

Using Mimestream’s native OmniFocus integration, you can transform emails into actions. You can access this integration from Mimestream’s menu bar and context menu. From the menu bar, choose Message > Send Link to > OmniFocus. Or control+click (or right-click) on an email and choose Send Link to > OmniFocus.

Sending a link to OmniFocus will open the Quick Entry window. By default, the subject of the email will be used for the title of the OmniFocus action ❶. Mimestream will also automatically add a link to the email to the note field of the new action ❷. Click Save to add this action to your inbox for future processing. Or, fill in the fields in Quick Entry to process this action into your system. Either way, make sure that the title of the action begins with a verb to ensure that your future self knows what to do with this email.

Consider setting up a keyboard shortcut if you frequently use Mimestream’s Send Link to OmniFocus feature. To add a keyboard shortcut, open System Settings and click Keyboard in the sidebar. Then, click Keyboard Shortcuts, choose App Shortcuts and click ➕ to create a new keyboard shortcut.

To configure the keyboard shortcut:

1. Choose Mimestream from the Application popup.
2. Specify a menu title of OmniFocus. Make sure you enter it exactly as shown.
3. Click the keyboard shortcut field and enter the keyboard shortcut. Ensure you choose a keyboard shortcut that doesn’t conflict with Mimestream or global keyboard shortcuts.
