Open OmniFocus Quick Entry

How To Use Shortcuts

This Shortcut is available for Members only

Brings OmniFocus to the foreground, launching it if necessary, then opens Quick Entry.

You’re more likely to capture in OmniFocus if Quick Entry is quick and convenient to access. In general, we recommend capturing actionable items in OmniFocus (e.g., Contact John about hiking on Saturday) and using other apps to store non-actionable items (e.g., ideas for the next vacation, books to consider reading).

On Mac – The built-in Quick Entry shortcut (⌃⌥Space by default) only works when OmniFocus is already running. Assign a keyboard shortcut to Open OmniFocus Quick Entry, and you’ll have convenient access to Quick Entry whether OmniFocus is running or not, since it launches the app when needed.

On iPhone and iPad – Assign the shortcut to the Action Button, a Back Tap or the Lock Screen to have one-tap access to Quick Entry.
