Focus by Meaningful Things
App Description
Focus is a thoughtfully designed productivity Timer for Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Vision Pro and Apple Watch. It’s based on the Pomodoro Technique, which promotes a combination of focused sessions and short and long breaks.
Budgeting Time for Tasks
One thing that differentiates Focus is the way it handles tasks. You can give a Focus task a “budget” and choose the active task. Focus will take the time out of that task’s budget when the work timer runs. You can budget one or more focus sessions for a task (a session is 25 minutes by default) or allocate a specific amount of time to a task.
OmniFocus Integration
You can create Focus tasks manually or by dragging a project, action group or action from OmniFocus to Focus. If what you drag in from OmniFocus has an estimated duration, that value will automatically be used for the time budget in Focus. Additionally, Focus will automatically create a link back to OmniFocus so you can conveniently access what you dragged in (e.g., to mark an action complete in OmniFocus when the work is done).
OmniFocus syncs tasks and timers across all of your Apple devices. This is very helpful if you switch devices while working or want to see how much time is left in your break on whatever device you have handy. For example, if you’re taking a break, you can check to see how much time you have left by accessing the Focus timer on your Apple Watch. Focus will allow you to extend your break right from your wrist if you need a longer break.
See OmniFocus + Focus in Action
To give you an idea of how this works on the Mac, the following video shows how you can drag and drop from OmniFocus to Focus. In this demo, two OmniFocus actions are dragged into Focus. One has an estimated one-hour duration, and the other has a 45-minute duration. Notice that the resulting tasks in Focus match this duration and that Focus automatically creates links back to OmniFocus.
Here’s a taste of how Focus works on the iPad. The Focus tasks created on the Mac and the timer status are synced to the iPad. Adjustments made on the iPad (e.g. switching the active task) will be reflected across all your other Apple devices.
