He holds a BA in Business from Skidmore College\, is the co-founder of a thriving consulting company based in New York City\, and is an avid blogger and podcaster. \nGTD and OmniFocus Background\nJason’s practice of Getting Things Done (GTD) spans 15 years. Based in New York City\, Arkus is a consulting company and Salesforce Partner that was established in 2010. The company consists of a growing number of expert project managers and developers. \nEveryone working at Arkus is using OmniFocus and applying GTD principles. To help reinforce this productive corporate culture\, Jason leads training sessions that feature GTD and OmniFocus. \nDuring this session\, Jason will be talking about his experiences using OmniFocus and GTD in a team environment. He’ll also touch on the ways that he and his team use OmniFocus alongside collaborative solutions\, including Salesforce and Slack. \nCloudFocus Weekly Podcast\nJason is also a long-time blogger and has been the co-host of the CloudFocus Weekly podcast for\, in his words\, “nine glorious years”. This weekly podcast covers the latest in cloud computing news\, happenings\, and events\, and each episode includes the CloudFocus App Pick of the Week. \nTo learn more about Jason\, check out his LinkedIn Profile and follow him on Twitter. \nAn Interactive Experience\nDuring the live session\, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and share insights using the chat box and audio/video conferencing. SUMMARY:OmniFocus 3 Workflows with Beck Tench
DESCRIPTION:Teacher\, PhD student\, and researcher\, Beck Tench will be joining us on Learn OmniFocus LIVE to share how she uses OmniFocus alongside other productivity apps and paper-based solutions. \n \n\nBeck’s OmniFocus Journey\nBeck was an early adopter of OmniFocus\, but abandoned it years ago in favour of what she describes as “simpler and more aesthetically pleasing options”. After experimenting with a variety of other tools\, she returned to OmniFocus in 2018\, concluding that “OmniFocus is the most robust and thoughtful tool out there right now for my needs.” \nAfter years of experience in the productivity realm\, Beck was well equipped for her return to OmniFocus. She makes good use of carefully-chosen emojis to bring a strong visual element to OmniFocus. She also uses OmniFocus to help cultivate the person she wants to be\, emphasizing her role as a wife\, friend\, daughter\, colleague\, and neighbour\, in addition to her own personal development. \nOther Tools and Approaches\nBeck has years of experience using paper-based solutions alongside digital tools. Among other things\, she uses a modified version of the paper-based Bullet Journal note-taking method that was created by Ryder Carroll. \nShe’s also a fan of the Pomodoro Technique that was developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. Her procrastination-preventing implementation includes her bullet journal\, OmniFocus\, and the Be Focused timer app. \nHer academic workflows includes Google Docs\, Tinderbox\, Paperpile\, Bookends\, Hazel\, GoodNotes\, and DEVONthink. \nYou can learn more about Beck’s time and task management workflows on her website. \nAbout Beck Tench\nBeck Tench is a wife\, daughter\, friend\, teacher\, gardener\, cyclist\, kind stranger\, and PhD student at the University of Washington Information School. She researches how the design of physical and digital spaces cultivates contemplative experience and practice. She is particularly interested in understanding how space facilitates a greater capacity for accessing personal wisdom\, connecting with others through compassion and friendship\, improving the quality of our lives through greater awareness of life as we’re living it\, and coping with the distractions of digital culture. \nShe was formally trained as a designer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and spent her career before returning to academia helping museums\, libraries\, and non-profits embrace risk-taking\, creativity\, and change through technology and personal space-making. Her work from that time was mentioned in the New York Times\, National Public Radio\, Scientific American\, and several books and blogs. \nAn Interactive Experience\nDuring the live session\, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and share insights using the chat box and audio/video conferencing. You’re welcome to join the live session 15 minutes before the start time to familiarize yourself with the online meeting technology we’re using and for an informal chat with other participants. The live session will remain active for 15 minutes after the completion time for additional questions and sharing.

SUMMARY:Managing the BIG Picture with OmniFocus 3
DESCRIPTION:This session is all about taking action in the context of the bigger picture of your life. You’ll learn practical concepts and how they can be applied with OmniFocus and complementary productivity apps. Topics include\, strategies for articulating projects and actions that move you forward in a meaningful way and how to tell when you’re drifting off course. \n \n\n\n\nProductivity can be defined simply as the process of producing results in life and work. \nHopefully\, these results are in alignment with what you’re up to in life. The mechanics of achieving these results ultimately comes down to completing a series of discrete actions\, with each action bringing you closer to a purposeful destination. \n \nHorizons of Focus\nA key concept in David Allen’s Getting Things Done approach is Horizons of Focus. He shares that the work we do spans multiple altitudes or perspectives. \nThe “runway” level is where the action happens; we crank through widgets (literally or metaphorically) and attend to items on our calendar. As we gain altitude\, our perspective shifts to Projects (Horizon 1)\, Areas of Focus and Accountability (Horizon 2)\, Goals and Objectives (Horizon 3)\, Vision (Horizon 4)\, and ultimately to Purpose and Principles (Horizon 5). \nStaying On Purpose\nIdeally\, everything we do at the runway level is in alignment with our Purpose and Principles. In practice\, it doesn’t tend to be this simple. In this day and age\, it’s very easy to get caught up in the busyness of day-to-day life and to be dominated by distraction. \nTo keep life and work on track\, it’s important to be intentional about setting aside time for reflection and strategic planning and to be mindful of how you’re spending your time and attention. When used effectively\, OmniFocus and complementary productivity apps can help you approach your life and work systematically — freeing your mind for creative thought while also helping you navigate the path forward. \nSession Overview\nAttend the live session and learn how to: \n\nUse OmniFocus to help ensure that all of your Horizons of Focus receive the appropriate amount of attention.\nUse OmniFocus to be intentional about creating time and space.\nUse repeating review projects to help keep your day-to-day actions in alignment with what’s most important to your life and work.\nTrack your Areas of Focus and Accountability and ensure that all areas of your life are getting the appropriate amount of attention.\nStay motivated when working on longer-term objectives\, especially when you’re investing a significant amount of time and energy and not seeing significant short-term progress.\nDetermine what to keep and OmniFocus and what’s best kept elsewhere.\nUse OmniOutliner and MindNode alongside OmniFocus to plan projects and actions.\nUse collaborative apps such as Asana\, Trello\, and Airtable alongside OmniFocus when working in a team environment.\nAnd more…\n\n\nAn Interactive Experience\nDuring the live session you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and share insights using the chat box and audio/video conferencing.
